What is a wedding video?

A wedding video is the documentation of a wedding which is filmed on location, edited at the studio, and placed on DVD or Blu-Ray media for our customers.

What information do you need to film our wedding?

We will need the name, date, and location of the wedding ceremony. We will need to know if the church or wedding ceremony location has any rules in regard to videographers during the ceremony. Some churches do not allow any video equipment inside the church or they have very strict rules which might make filming very difficult. It is very important to find out these details before you hire us to film your wedding. You will be provided a contract to sign and a deposit is required to lock in your wedding date. A free consultation with our staff will help you understand all of the details.

What does SD and HD mean?

SD stands for "Standard Definition." HD stands for "High Definition." SD is the video format commonly used with DVDs while HD is the format for BLU-RAY discs.

What type of camcorder do you use to film my special event?

We use Sony HVR-HD1000U camcorders for all of our filming needs. This camera allows us to film in HD or SD formats.

What type of sound equipment do you use?

This depends on the event we are going to film. If we are filming a wedding we will use a Senheisser wireless microphone to capture the vows. If we are filming a school recital we will be using the camcorder's professional boom microphone to pick up the audio.

What service areas do you cover?

Our headquarters are located in the city of Lancaster, California in the Antelope Valley. We usually serve all of the surrounding area up to 50 miles in radius. A small travel charge will apply if an event is farther than 50 miles from our headquarters.

Do you provide photography services?

No we do not provide photography services. We specialize in affordable video services for all of our clients. We can recommend you to a great photographer that is listed in the partners section of our website.

What forms of payment do you provide your customers?

For our clients convenience we offer payments by cash, personal check, money order, or credit card via PayPal. Personal checks must clear before a date can be reserved and must clear before the delivery of the final product.

Can potential clients make appointments with your staff to discuss a project?

Yes. Please email us or call us during regular business hours and we will schedule a date and time to meet with you. All estimates and consultations are free.

What will the cameraman be wearing during our wedding or formal event?

The camera crew will be wearing suits for the males and appropriate dresses for the female crew members. If the client requests we wear tuxedos we will do so at the clients expense.

What happens if we go over our time limit when you are filming our special event?

If you go over your allotted time limit overtime charges will apply. Our overtime rate is $50.00 an hour and we do not prorate if you do not use the entire hour.

How do we lock in our date for our special event?

If you have a specific date you need to hire us for the best way to make sure you secure it is by scheduling an appointment with our staff and signing a contract and leaving a deposit. This will lock in the date you need us for before another customer comes along requesting the same date. If you are paying by personal check the check must clear and funds must be available to Desert Productions before the date can be secured.
